The Truth is… Parents Need Doulas too!
Friends, meet Jillian Best Adler, parenting and postpartum doula and expert in early childhood development. Jillian’s bio is long and impressive, but beyond her degrees and expertise, she is down to earth, nonjudgemental, and comes with a broad spectrum of real life experience that a classroom could never offer.
The Truth is… Placenta is Power.
The latest blog features Tiff D’Amico, CPES(IPPA), CBE(BWI), LD(CAPPA), affectionately known as “The Placenta Girl” of Karma Birth Services, gives her perspective on the process of encapsulating placenta, health benefits and potential risks, and the opportunity to dispel the many myths that swirl around the web and even in medical and healthcare spaces.
The truth is, placenta is power (created with your own body!). And that power can be harnessed to navigate a healthier and happier postpartum journey.
The Truth is… Abortion is Healthcare
We are in a public health crisis that’s about to get a lot worse. We need every single able-bodied American who believes in the humanity of all people to do their part. There is no option for sitting on the sidelines
The Truth is… Advocacy Saves Lives.
The truth is, advocacy can save lives and everyone deserves to be heard, supported, and treated with dignity during their pregnancy, labor, and after.
The Truth Is… It’s Time to Prioritize Pelvic Health.
The truth is, it’s my job as a doula to be able to provide my clients with the essential resources they need, like pelvic physical therapy, and I’m so grateful to have connected with Jamie so I can share the services she offers with my community.
The Truth is… Hope Heals.
The truth is, pregnancy loss is common, but it can also be traumatizing, isolating, and painful. Hope not only helps to heal from these experiences, but it can also restore us in so many ways, and Marise is a testament to that promise.
The Truth is… Support is Essential.
I connected with Lynn Polin earlier this year when we were invited to share our stories at a fertility support event at Kindbody in Princeton. We’ve had very different paths toward motherhood, but the common thread that connected us was the need to turn pain into purpose.
The truth is, she’s an unwavering fighter and continues to lead the way in changing the landscape of the infertility journey and I’m proud to share her story.
The Truth Is… Politics and Parenting go Hand in Hand.
Kate Schumacher is a fierce mother of three, environmental protection superhero, GOTV champion, PTO Guardian of the Gold, and most importantly, she knows that not only do politics and parenting intersect, but they’re also intrinsically linked. I wanted to share her perspective because raising children is hard but ultimately we all want to raise children in a loving, just, and healthy environment, all of which is attainable through advocacy work.
The Truth is… a Discussion with Dr. Joyce Merrigan.
I am thrilled to kick off this blog with an insightful and inspiring interview with Dr. Joyce Merrigan, RNC-OB (Registered Nurse Board Certified Obstetrics), CPLC (Certified Perinatal Loss Care), TIP (Trauma-informed Provider), CBCC (Certified Bereavement Care Coordinator), Clinical Specialist in Maternal Child Health and Perinatal Bereavement Coordinator at Capital Health in New Jersey, and Chairperson of the Capital Health Multidisciplinary Perinatal Bereavement Committee. Joyce is a leader in developing training and education for health care professionals and providing the necessary care for families who experience pregnancy loss as well as pregnancy after loss.
The Truth Is…
This blog will bring different perspectives about the human experience, regardless of whether or not they are a parent or not, work in the birth space or outer space, through a weekly (short!) Q&A about where they came from, where they’ve been, what they learned, and their advice for others. These won’t be deep, dissecting dives, rather refreshing reminders of how we all intersect so beautifully.
In other words: Short, sweet, sometimes sad, and always sincere.
(also, if you haven’t noticed yet, I’m really into alliterations)
